Rerun or cancel a pipeline
From a run, Re-run Failed Jobs repeats only what failed, Re-run All Jobs repeats everything, and a job’s menu re-runs just that job (Retry Stage on GitLab-style stages). Cancel Run… stops it; Force Cancel Run… ends it without letting jobs clean up. Neither cancel can be undone.
Needs GitTree Pro or a running trial; Free keeps every local Git feature. Compare the plans.

Before you start
- GitTree Pro or a running trial: CI/CD runs are part of Pro.
- Permission on the provider to run and cancel workflows.
Where to find it
- The run’s Re-run menu and Cancel Run…; the palette.
| Action | macOS | Windows and Linux |
|---|---|---|
| Re-run Failed Jobs | ⌥⇧F | Alt+Shift+F |
Steps
Re-run what failed
In a failed run, press Re-run Failed Jobs. GitTree says Re-run requested. and a new attempt appears.
Choose another re-run
Open More re-run options for Re-run All Jobs, Re-run with Debug Logging, or right-click a job: Re-run Job.
Cancel a run
Choose Cancel Run… and confirm Cancel Run; Keep Running leaves it alone. Jobs already running are stopped and their work is lost.
Expected result
The run starts again as a new attempt, or stops.
Attempts and force cancel
- Each re-run is a new Attempt; switch between them in the run, and Show retried jobs shows the earlier ones.
- Force Cancel Run… is for a run a normal cancel has not stopped.
- A re-run that deploys to a protected environment asks first.
If something goes wrong
“Re-running the failed jobs is not available for this run.”
The provider does not offer it for this run (it may still be running). Use Re-run All Jobs, or wait for it to finish.
Questions
Is Cancel Run reversible?
No. Start the run again with a re-run instead.
