Browse and create provider repositories
With an account connected, Clone a repository lists that account’s repositories by Owner, with search, so you do not need to copy a URL. Publish Repository… goes the other way: it creates the repository on your account, adds it as a remote and pushes your branch.
Needs GitTree Pro or a running trial; Free keeps every local Git feature. Compare the plans.

Before you start

| The command palette | ⌘⇧P | Ctrl+Shift+P |
Steps
Pick a repository to clone
Open Clone a repository and choose your provider under Clone from. Pick the Account and Owner, then use Search repositories and select one; private ones are marked Private.
Choose where it goes
Check Parent folder and Folder name; Clones into shows the final path. Press Clone.
Or publish a local repository
In a repository with no remote, choose Publish Repository…. Pick the Account, Owner and Name, tick Private if it should be, and press Publish.
Expected result
The repository is cloned to your computer, or your local repository now lives on your account with the branch pushed.
Publish options
- Remote name: usually
origin; it must be one the repository does not use yet. - Use SSH for the remote URL: the remote gets the SSH address instead of HTTPS.
- Description (optional) is written on the provider.
If something goes wrong
“The repository was created, but adding remote … failed”
The repository exists on the provider. Add it as a remote yourself (Manage remotes), then push.
Questions
Can I still clone with a URL?
Yes. Clone with URL works without a connected account, on Free.
