Use pipeline release controls

CI/CD Settings › Releases lists the repository’s releases. New Release names a tag (or creates one from a branch or commit), with a Title, Notes (Markdown) and files people can download. A release is published for everyone who can see the repository unless you Save as a draft.

Steps

  1. Start a release

Open CI/CD Settings, select Releases and press New Release.

  2. Fill it in

Enter the Tag. For a new tag, set New tag from a branch or commit (empty for the default branch). Add a Title and Notes (Markdown), or tick Let … write the notes when they are empty.

  3. Choose how it appears

Tick Save as a draft to keep it to people who can push, or Mark as a prerelease. Press Save Release and confirm.

  4. Attach files

Choose Attach a file to … to add downloads; Remove … takes one off.

Expected result

The release is on the provider with its notes and files.

If something goes wrong

“Enter a tag.”

Every release names a tag; type an existing one or a new name.

Questions

Does deleting a release delete its tag?

No. Its notes and files are deleted from the provider; the tag stays.
