Use the in-app Feature Guide

The Feature Guide lists everything GitTree can do, where to find it and its shortcuts, grouped by area, with a search box. Show me takes you to the feature in the repository you have open; features that need a repository, Pro or a connected account say so.

FreeUpdated

Works in GitTree Free: every local Git feature, once you are signed in.

Before you start

  • Nothing. Open a repository first if you want Show me to work for repository features.

Where to find it

  • Feature Guide in the status bar, or the palette: Feature Guide.
ActionmacOSWindows and Linux
Feature Guide⌥HAlt+H
Every keyboard shortcut⌘/Ctrl+/

Steps

  1. Open the guide

Press the shortcut or choose Feature Guide in the status bar.

  2. Search or browse

Type in Search features…, or pick a group. Each feature says Where: it lives and its Shortcuts:; new ones are marked New and Pro ones Pro.

  3. Go to it

Press Show me. If it cannot be used yet, the feature says why: Open a repository to use it., Part of GitTree Pro. or Needs a connected account for this provider.

Expected result

You found the feature and landed on it in the app.

The Integrations tab

The Integrations tab answers What can … do here? for the hosting provider of the open repository: what it offers, what needs a connected account (Connect…) and what that provider does not offer. See Free and Pro features for which features are part of Pro.

If something goes wrong

“No feature matches …”

Try a shorter word or the Git term, such as “stash” or “rebase”, or search these docs.

Questions

Does the guide open by itself after an update?

GitTree remembers the version you last opened it in, so it can point out features marked New; it opens only when you ask.
