How can we help?

Ask a question, report a bug or suggest an idea. Write to us by e-mail, or use the same GitHub forms the app opens. Choose whichever suits you: both reach the team.

Or write toinfo@gittree.app

Choose what you need

Each card says who can read what you send. GitHub issues are public, so others with the same problem can find the answer; e-mail stays private.

Report from inside the app

GitTree has the same ways to reach us built in, and it fills in the details a report needs.

  • Top bar

    Report a Bug

The bug button beside the notifications bell opens the GitHub bug form with your GitTree version, OS version and Git version already filled in. It is on the sign-in and startup screens too.

  • Status bar

    Support

Opens a new e-mail to info@gittree.app in your mail app, ready for you to write.

  • Crash window

    Report on GitHub

After a crash, read the saved report, choose to copy all of it or a short summary, then paste it into the crash form that opens. Crash Reports… lists earlier crashes.

  • Command palette

    From anywhere

Press ⌘⇧P on macOS, or Ctrl+Shift+P on Windows and Linux, then choose Report a Bug…, E-mail Support… or Crash Reports… from the list.

GitTree never sends a report on its own. Each of these opens a form or an e-mail that you read, change and send yourself.

Write a report we can act on

A good report gets fixed sooner. The forms ask for all of this; by e-mail, the ready-made message does.

Include

  • What you did, what you expected and what happened instead
  • Steps someone else can follow to see it happen
  • Your GitTree version, shown at the bottom-right of the app window
  • Your operating system and its version
  • Your Git version: the output of git --version
  • A screenshot or a short screen recording, if it shows the problem

Leave out

  • Passwords, tokens, SSH keys and recovery codes
  • Private repository contents, file paths or remote URLs you do not want made public
  • Other people’s names or e-mail addresses

Search the open issues first. If someone has reported it, add what you know to their issue instead of opening a new one.

Support questions

Do I need a GitHub account to report a bug?

Only for the GitHub forms. Without one, e-mail info@gittree.app with the same details: every card on this page has a ready-made e-mail for it.

Who can read what I send?

A GitHub issue is public: anyone can read it, which helps others with the same problem. An e-mail to info@gittree.app stays between you and the GitTree team.

Does GitTree send crash or bug reports automatically?

No. The app never sends a report on its own. Report a Bug, Support and Report on GitHub only open a form or an e-mail that you check and send yourself.

Where do I find my GitTree version?

At the bottom-right of the app window. Report a Bug in the app fills in your GitTree version, OS version and Git version for you.

How do I report a security vulnerability?

Privately, never in a public issue: open a GitHub security advisory or e-mail info@gittree.app. Say how to reproduce it and which version is affected, and give us time to release a fix.

How do I change or delete my account?

Sign in to the dashboard: your profile, linked accounts and organizations are there, and Account settings lets you delete your account. If you cannot sign in, e-mail info@gittree.app.

Can I write in Arabic?

Yes. Write to us in English or Arabic, by e-mail or on GitHub.

Still need help?

Write to us and tell us what you need. The more detail you give, the faster we can help.
