Questions about choosing a Git GUI

Which Git GUI is free for commercial use?

GitTree’s Free plan covers every Git feature, private repositories and commercial use on macOS, Windows and Linux, with a GitTree account. GitHub Desktop, Sourcetree, TortoiseGit and Lazygit are free as well; each comparison lists that product’s own terms and platforms.

Which Git GUI clients run on Linux?

Sourcetree, GitHub Desktop, Fork and Tower are macOS and Windows only, no Linux version, and TortoiseGit runs on Windows only. GitTree, GitKraken Desktop, SmartGit, Sublime Merge, GitButler and Lazygit have official Linux builds, and GitTree’s Linux page covers Ubuntu and Debian.

How are these comparisons checked?

Every claim about another product comes from that product’s official pages, which each comparison links. Each page shows the date of its last check, and rows where the other product is ahead say so. GitTree is not affiliated with these products; their names are trademarks of their owners.
