Everything in individual Pro, for your student projects
Learn real Git visually
Follow the commit graph, stage files or individual lines, work with branches, and resolve conflicts. Every local Git feature also belongs to the ordinary Free plan.
Hosting integrations included
Use GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket and Azure DevOps integrations for repositories, pull requests and CI workflows. Each hosting service keeps its own account and permission requirements.
Nour and AI drafting
Use Nour with your own supported coding-agent CLI and draft commit messages and pull request descriptions. GitTree does not supply third-party AI subscriptions, tokens or credits.
Full individual Pro access
The student award includes the same individual Pro capabilities, including Repo Insights and organization creation. Organization members still need separately purchased seats.
Start with the sign-in options you already use
Use your academic email
Choose email sign-in and enter the code sent to your university mailbox, or choose a supported provider that supplies a verified academic email.
Receive Student Pro automatically
When the backend recognizes the academic domain and the identity has not claimed the offer before, it awards Pro during signup or login. There is no second verification step.
Check your dates and download GitTree
Your Subscription page shows the institution and exact start and end dates. If you already have committed personal Pro access, the student term starts after that access.
University domains from the original GitHub Education dataset
GitTree uses explicit domain entries from the original leereilly/swot dataset, documented as historically powering GitHub Education student verification. The pinned domain data was last updated in August 2019; it is not a copy of GitHub’s current private eligibility system. GitTree also adds university domains it has reviewed, such as institutions founded or renamed since 2019. A university email or .edu suffix alone does not qualify.
A recognized mailbox establishes academic-email eligibility, not a separate enrollment certificate. Personal email addresses and blocked domains do not qualify. If your institution is missing, contact GitTree support with its name, official website and email domain; once GitTree adds the domain, your next sign-in with that email receives the award.
Provider sign-in qualifies only when that provider supplies verified academic-email evidence. If it does not, use the existing email OTP option with your university mailbox. Signing in through a different provider does not merge separate accounts or restart the award.
After 24 months, choose what comes next
Student Pro ends at the exact date shown in your account. The award does not renew, and logging in again or using a different provider does not extend it. There is no payment method to charge.
When the student benefit is your only Pro access, your account returns to Free. You keep the local Git client and your repositories. To keep using Pro capabilities, choose Subscribe to Pro and complete the ordinary subscription flow. Other valid paid or organization access continues on its own terms.
This is an independent GitTree offer. You do not need GitHub Student Developer Pack membership, and this page does not imply GitHub approval, partnership, or access to GitHub’s other student benefits.
Student offer questions
Is GitTree Pro really free for students for 24 months?
Yes. Eligible academic-email identities receive one 24-calendar-month award of individual Pro, with no payment card and no automatic renewal. The exact dates appear in your account.
Do I need to verify my email again after signing in?
No. The code in ordinary email OTP sign-in, or verified academic-email evidence from a supported provider, is sufficient. There is no separate student verification step.
What happens when the 24 months finish?
The student benefit ends. If you have no other active Pro entitlement, your account returns to Free. You can subscribe to Pro manually; GitTree does not charge you automatically.
Does signing in with GitHub qualify?
Yes, when GitHub supplies a verified email on a recognized academic domain, including a verified secondary academic email. A personal or unverified email does not qualify by itself.
What if my university is missing or my provider does not supply a verified academic email?
For a missing institution, contact GitTree support with the institution name, official website and academic email domain. After GitTree reviews and adds the domain, sign in again with that email to receive the award. If your provider supplies no verified academic email, use ordinary email OTP signup or login with that mailbox.
Can I renew the student offer or use it for my whole team?
The student award is one-time and cannot be renewed or reset. It includes individual Pro, not free organization seats. Your own coding-agent provider may also require a separate subscription.
