Return to the commit graph
Diffs, files, blame, history, comparisons, pipelines and pull requests open over the graph. Esc closes the top one and returns to the view that opened it; Back to Graph takes them all off at once. Open files only hide: their tabs stay beside the Graph tab.
Works in GitTree Free: every local Git feature, once you are signed in.
On this page
Before you start
- A repository is open and something covers the graph: a diff, a file, blame or another view.
Where to find it
- Back to Graph at the top of the view, or the pinned Graph tab.
- The command palette: Back to Graph, Toggle Full View.
| Action | macOS | Windows and Linux |
|---|---|---|
| Toggle Full View | ⌘⇧F12 | Ctrl+Shift+F12 |
| Jump to HEAD | ⌘⇧H | Ctrl+Shift+H |
Steps
Step back one view
Press Esc. The top view closes and the one that opened it shows again: blame opened from a file returns to that file.
Return straight to the graph
Choose Back to Graph, or select the Graph tab. Every view comes off at once.
Come back to a file
Select its tab beside Graph. It opens where you left it, with any unsaved edits.
Expected result
The commit graph is showing, and nothing you opened was lost.
Full View
Enter Full View hides the side panels so the graph or a diff gets the whole window; Exit Full View brings them back. The left and right panels can also be hidden one at a time.
| Action | macOS | Windows and Linux |
|---|---|---|
| Show or hide the left panel | ⌘J | Ctrl+J |
| Show or hide the right panel | ⌘K | Ctrl+K |
If something goes wrong
Esc does nothing
Focus may be in a text field or a dialog; press Esc again or click the view first. Back to Graph always works.
Questions
Does Back to Graph close my conflict resolution?
It hides it; the draft is kept and the conflict banner reopens it.
