Edit organization settings

In the organization’s Settings, owners and admins can change the Organization name (2 to 64 characters) and the Short name (3 to 39 lowercase letters, numbers or hyphens, starting and ending with a letter or number, unique). GitTree says Organization updated.

Before you start

  • You are an owner or admin.

Where to find it

  • The organization’s Settings page.

Steps

  1. Open Settings

    Open the organization and choose Settings.

  2. Edit the name or short name

    Type the new Organization name or Short name. A short name must be unique.

  3. Save

    Save the change. GitTree says Organization updated.

Expected result

Members see the new name everywhere in GitTree.

If something goes wrong

“That short name is already taken. Try another one.”

Pick another short name; reserved names cannot be used either.
